Your consultation will begin by finding out more about your pain, your previous therapies, medications and investigations, and some of your goals. We review all letters from your GP and other specialists, and we will ask you about therapies you may have tried in the past and whether they were helpful.
We will then perform a clinical examination and talk about any further investigations or information we may need to develop a plan to help manage your pain.
We teach you about your diagnosed condition, how it may cause pain, and explain mechanisms that occur within your body when you have ongoing pain. We will answer any questions and give you more information to read or small activities to help you gain a deeper understanding of your pain condition and start to take control.

At Resolve Pain, we work closely with other health practitioners so we can work together to help you. We know it can be confusing when we get different messages from different healthcare providers, which is why we have allied health working with us on-site and may recommend other local Sunshine Coast health practitioners and specialists who we work with regularly. There are many other good healthcare providers who you are already working with, and we can work with your established team, as they often know you best and may have worked well with you for a while.
We have a dedicated pain psychologist - Hannah Tregea - who can work on the psychological aspects of pain. Pain can make us grumpy, upset, frustrated, angry, and sad - sometimes all at once. These emotions may make it hard to be motivated to try new things, attempt rehabilitation, or make daily living hard. Hannah is a specialist health psychologist who works with our patients to help them move forward, set goals, and achieve improvements in work and life.
We are now also working with a specialised Women’s Health physiotherapist who is an expert in abdominal, pelvic and hip issues for women. She works with the rest of the team to help you recover.
We have a dedicated Buderim Outpatient Pain Program run in conjunction with the Buderim Private Hospital which offers intensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation over 4-5 weeks - Buderim Outpatient Pain Program
Several other allied health practitioners, such as physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, podiatrists, and occupational therapists with whom we work closely, are interested in chronic pain. If you require these extra supports, we can help suggest health practitioners options that best suit you.

At Resolve Pain, we are experts in all pain medications. We spend the time to help people work out which medications, if any, best fit into their life. Some people come to us wanting to reduce their medications; others may never even want to take any medications. Other people want to explore what medication options they could try to reduce their pain.
We can help with all medication questions and plans. We are happy to adapt to your needs and spend time discussing the pros and cons of all medication options. We consider all standard and specialised pain medications, such as low-dose naltrexone, medicinal cannabis, palmitoylethanolamide, curcumin, ketamine, lignocaine - and many more.
We will work with you and your primary care provider (GP) to minimise side effects and maximise benefits.

Please note - we do not have an addiction specialist working with us. If you require those specific services, we may direct your referral to those services.
Many people find that despite doing all the right things such as rest, exercises, working on their general physical and mental health, their pain can remain too high for them to be able to do the rehabilitation to help them get better. Pain procedures offer a ‘window of opportunity’ where we try to reduce your pain for a period of time (often 6-12 months) with a simple procedure, to allow you to work on healing and recovering.
Procedures we offer include:
- Diagnostic blocks (under fluroscopy/Xray and/or ultrasound)
- Radiofrequency ablation (both pulsed and coagulative)
- Steroid injections
- Epidural injections
- Sympathetic blocks (such as stellate ganglion, coeliac plexus etc.)
- Neuromodulation (implantable leads or devices to reduce pain within a specific region or nerve).
We utilise private hospital facilities at both Selangor Private Hospital (Nambour) and Buderim Private Hospital for our surgical and X-ray procedures, and we can also perform many procedures within our clinical rooms with our high-quality ultrasound equipment and sterile treatment rooms.
We also have the option of admitting patients to the hospital and working with our rehabilitation colleagues, and utilising medication infusions and rarer therapies such as transcranial magnetic stimulation.
Pain procedures will be discussed by your Resolve Pain health team, and we can explain the benefits, risks, and costs so you are totally informed and can make your own decisions on what therapies you think may best suit you.

Many people experiencing chronic pain have impacts on their work or financial situations. Often this requires support from WorkCover, insurance, or legal experts. We regularly work with patients to help manage their goals - such as returning to work in some capacity and fulfilling paperwork/assessments required for insurance and legal discussions regarding trauma, surgery, and recovery.
Your Resolve Pain health team can discuss report writing and assessments, and we can explain the benefits, risks, and costs so you are informed and can make your own decisions on what services you think you may need.
